Historically known as Music City and the birthplace of country music, Nashville is experiencing massive growth due to its Southern charm and attractive urban offerings, as well as the luxury homes cropping up in the green, rolling hillsides.

Newcomers from around the country are flocking to the city, but out-of-towners and locals alike are debating where in the city, specifically, to settle down and build their dream homes. The metro is constantly changing, and some individuals are wary of building in a neighborhood that could experience significant shifts in the near future.

The truth is, Nashville offers many established and developing neighborhoods to choose from!

Whether you are looking to be in close proximity to downtown, within walking distance of parks and local eateries, or a few miles from the hustle and bustle, Turnberry Homes has compiled a list of the best Nashville neighborhoods to build your luxury home.

Belle Meade

Incorporated as its own city, Belle Meade is a three-square-mile lush landscape of private estates located a few miles southwest of Downtown Nashville. In the 1800s, the area became known for raising thoroughbred race horses, and later for its pre-prohibition bourbon whiskey.

While enveloped by Nashville, the City of Belle Meade gives residents a feeling they are living in a rural area, even boasting its own police department. The Cheekwood botanical gardens, Belle Meade Winery, and Percy Warner Park are fixtures in the community.

Brentwood

Nestled in the quiet space between Nashville and Franklin is the City of Brentwood, an affluent suburb of less than 50,000 people but still considered part of the Nashville metropolitan area. It is a safe and friendly community of both historic and newly developed homes of every shape and size.

At the same time, Brentwood is known for luxury. Throughout the city and along its perimeter are sprawling estates and custom-built mansions that are only minutes from the best dining and entertainment experiences of Nashville. A few coveted areas to live include Glen Abbey, The Laurels, Sonoma, and Hampton Reserve.

Franklin

Almost as popular a tourist destination as Nashville and the county seat of Williamson County, Franklin is as historic as it is modern. For example, The Factory, a century-old manufacturing facility, has been flipped into a unique shopping and entertainment experience. Downtown Franklin is the picture of Southern life, with coffee shops, restaurants, and boutiques residing behind brick walls.

As for the housing scene, Franklin offers farmland, neighborhoods, and estates to aspiring residents, as well as desirable schools and community offerings. The FirstBank amphitheater in Franklin has hosted performances by the Jonas Brothers, Halsey, Miranda Lambert, and more.

Green Hills

A neighbor and comparable choice to Belle Meade is Green Hills. Those who have visited The Bluebird Cafe to catch a glimpse of celebrity and up-and-coming songwriters may be familiar with the area, which is also home to Lipscomb University and the Mall at Green Hills.

One of the most desirable neighborhoods in Nashville, Green Hills features premier shopping, dozens of high-end and locally-owned restaurants and bars, as well as easy access to major thoroughfares I-65 and I-440.

West Meade

Another excellent neighborhood to consider putting down roots is West Meade. Like the name suggests, this mostly residential neighborhood sits adjacent to Belle Meade and is bordered by I-40 and Highway 70.

Much of West Meade’s more dated properties are being sold for their property value and leveled to make room for brand new homes, homes that will be situated on sprawling lawns within Nashville’s city limits. It is an ideal place to raise a family as the neighborhood is close by to private and public schools, delicious eateries, and local shopping favorites like Trader Joe’s, ALDI, and Costco.
